“Mom! Is it time for science yet?”
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I dread science experiments…
My girls love the hands-on nature of science! They eagerly anticipate experiments. If I don’t plan them, they come up with their own.
Super creative, super messy, and sometimes lacking in safety!
Perhaps you are like-minded and don’t enjoy gathering materials and planning experiments.
Maybe your children are constantly waiting for you to get needed items for an experiment.
This happens at my house often!
But not this year!!!
Say “Hello” to BookShark Science and stop dreading science experiments.
*I was compensated for the time I spent reviewing BookShark Science Level D. As always, all opinions are mine.
This year, I’m super excited to have the opportunity to try out BookShark Science Level D (ages 8-11) for our homeschool science curriculum.

What is BookShark Science?
BookShark Science is secular.
This homeschool curriculum is described as faith-neutral. To fully understand what that means, you’ll want to read BookShark’s detailed explanation.
BookShark Science is a complete package.
Everything you need to teach science and do experiments with no prep time.
- Instructor’s Guide
- 4 day week
- Easy to follow
- Activity Sheets
- Books, books, and more books!
- Science Experiments
- Science Supplies Kit
BookShark Science Level D is for ages 8-ll. BookShark offers several levels, so you can find the right fit for your children.
This is the perfect age range for my girls to do science together this year.
BookShark Science is four days a week. The fourth day is always a hands-on experiment day!
Your children will quickly catch on to this pattern and anticipate the fourth day! If you forget, they’ll likely remind you, just like mine.
“What are we doing today?”
We love having the fifth day for finishing an experiment or joining our homeschool friends (see more homeschool benefits).
Our First BookShark Science Experiment
Our first experiment day took more than one day. Not because it was hard, but because we were having so much fun making models of the butterfly lifecycle.
Stop Dreading Science Experiments!
Easy to Follow Directions
Ever messed up a science experiment? Yep! Many times!
The process of each experiment is consistent and features:
- Key Concepts
- Make a Prediction
- Draw Conclusions
- See the Bigger Picture
- Go Further
Science Supplies are Ready
You already know my weakness with science experiments! I never have the materials!
Thank you, BookShark, for taking away my dread of science experiments!
The BookShark Science Supplies Kit has the experiment materials you need (with the exception of common household items).
In the first three weeks, we used:
- plaster of Paris
- ping pong ball
- pipe cleaners
It’s such a relief to know all the supplies are ready and waiting in the box! Sure, we have a few of these items in our home, but not all.
We are able to do each experiment without running to the store for missing supplies or worse –just skipping it.
